Shading Analysis
In the image above, the clouds are diffusing the sunlight, allowing for a photo that can be used to gauge how much sun power hits your roof over the course of the entire year. To make these measurements we use a device called a Solar Pathfinder.
To give NJ, PA, and NY residents a perspective; Trenton, NJ has an average daily solar insolation of 3.63kWh. This means that on average the sun provides enough power to operate 40 large flat panel televisions for over three and half hours each day. Obviously more in the summer and less in the winter, and this is taking into consideration the local average rain/cloud coverage etc.
In terms of an investment, you can view this power like a stock dividend that continually pays out at least $1,600 dollars every year. More if/when home energy prices rise. Most equipment comes with a 20 year guarantee.
